Today was Claire's second first day of 1st grade. For those trying to figure out what that means, Claire is repeating 1st grade this year. She did very well in 1st grade last year, but having a summer birthday in an area where parents often retain their summer birthday children, put her at a disadvantage. Claire was feeling the pressure to keep up with the "big kids" (some that were more than a year older than her), and we wanted her to be confident and excited about school. Thankfully, Claire was on board with our decision, and ever since school has started, she has not looked back! She loves her new class, and is excited to go to school everyday. Although the decision to retain her was a difficult one to make, we are grateful that we did.
