Thanksgiving 2012

Making sure the turkey is getting fried at the perfect temperature. . .

Arriving in the North Pole. . .

Emma was not too happy about Claire having a turn with Katherine.
Ahhh, that's better. Well, at least for Emma it was.
Katherine doesn't look so sure.

This year we hosted my family at our house for Thanksgiving.  The weather was beautiful, and the cousins had fun filling their extra time by playing outside in the yard, at the playground, and down by the creek behind our house.  We were even able to squeeze in a visit to Santa and Mrs. Claus on the "North Pole Express".  Unfortunately, my dad was feeling under the weather that day, so he was not able to join us, but we devoured some milk and cookies in his honor.
It was so great having everyone together in one place for the long weekend.  We truly have a lot to be thankful for!!

Happy Birthday, Owen!

Emma was found stalking the party next to us. . .
In her defense, the fact that Sleeping Beauty was present probably had a lot to do with that.
Katherine's post-party bottle. . .

This past weekend we make a quick trip to Atlanta to help Owen celebrate his 3rd birthday with friends. The theme was "Cars", and pizza and yummy cupcakes were had by all.

4K Open House

Emma's class had a little Thanksgiving themed Open House this morning. The kids have been working hard on costumes and crafts throughout November, and today was the day that they got to show it all off.  Jeremy and I had fun letting Emma (I mean, "Sparkling Lily") give us the grand tour.  She was proud of all of her work - and rightfully so!

Fall Beach Days

The girls were out in the sand first thing in the morning. Above, Emma is still in her pajamas!

NeNe & all of her grands. . .

Given an extra day off from school, we made our way to the beach for a little family reunion this past weekend. It was great to see the cousins play together, and to finally meet the newest addition to the crew, Barrett. We were blessed with beautiful weather for the first two days, but the rains came in on departure day. Although it's never easy to leave the beach, a cold and rainy day usually makes staying a little less desirable. No complaints here. After all, it is November!

Veterans Day Program

During one of the songs, a slideshow of family veterans was played in the background. We had several family members from both sides of the family represented. We are definitely proud of that!
This picture happens to show my dad on the screen. . .

Half of the first grade classes at Claire's school had their Veterans Day Program today.  It was a great day to celebrate all who have served, and to see how much the kids have learned in music class.  Claire was chosen to help carry in the American flag at the beginning of the program.  We were so proud of her!

Disney On Ice

I realize this isn't a very exciting post for most of you, but the girls do like to look back on our blog, so I wanted to document our evening at Disney on Ice. I chose pictures from some of their favorite parts of the show. It was a fun night, and I am happy to report that my purse full of Halloween candy spared us from the $20 cotton candy.

Halloween 2012

Miss Annie came to teach the kids about how pumpkins grow from seed to jack-o-lantern. . .

Pirate Izzy & Cowgirl Claire
SOME of the children that attended the neighborhood Halloween party. . .

What a fun day!  Both girls had parties at school, and this evening our neighborhood had a pizza party before setting the children free to trick-or-treat.  Claire and Emma both got more candy than they could ever dream of (or need!).  Halloween 2012 was a success!
