Hat Day!

Emma had "Hat Day" at school today!
She was so excited to bring a touch of her love for dress-up to school.

"Down in Baton Rouge"

Pictured above is the sunset as we drove towards Baton Rouge. I was hoping that the orange and blue sky was a foretelling of the victory to come. Sadly, I was wrong. Very, very wrong.
Check out those cheerleaders!
We actually saw the team buses drive past. Claire stood in the middle of the parking lot and put on a quite a good show of support for them.
True friendship is color blind. :)
Claire entertaining herself at the tailgate. . .
Yummy beignets!!
Let the silliness of the sugar-high begin!
"Mike the Tiger"
Is this what they mean by "tiger bait"?
Shaq!

What a great trip! Last weekend we went to Baton Rouge, LA to visit our good friends, Jennifer and Eric, and their little ones, William and Lauren. Seeing as how our Auburn Tigers were in town playing "the other tigers", we thought it would be a great opportunity to check out LSU. Well, the game did not turn out in our favor (45-10, Ouch!), but we had a good time regardless. Thank you, Jennifer and Eric, for being the hostesses with the mostesses! We had so much fun!!

Fall Carnival

Here fishy, fishy. . .

I don't have too many pictures to share, but last Thursday night was the Fall Carnival at Claire's school. Each year, the entire school campus is transformed into a magical world of games, inflatibles, sweet treats, and a haunted house. It is complete chaos with halls full of parents and super-excited children, but the kids have such a great time with their friends. As a second year parent, I have come to find that once they know what to expect, the parents enjoy it as well. :)

Boo at the Zoo

The zoo put on a Scooby Doo mystery show that incorporated some of their smaller animals. After it was over, Emma really wanted to meet the Daphne character.
I'm pretty sure that her ear-to-ear grin was for the orange wig.

Last Friday night, we took the girls to Boo at the Zoo. It was a fun night of trick-or-treating and taking a special Halloween themed train ride. As with any trick-or-treat outing, excessive amounts of candy were consumed.

Picking Pumpkins

Saturday was a great day for the pumpkin patch! The kids enjoyed the hayride, and there were tons of good-sized pumpkins to choose from. As with our usual southern "fall", it was a little warmer than we would have liked, but we were grateful for the sunshine and beautiful blue skies.

Let's Go Rebels!

Claire and her friend, Caroline, strikin' a pre-game pose.
sunset and moon over the high school
A look of pure joy!
Emma was cheering from the stands. . .

After attending a cheer clinic at the high school, Claire (along with a "small handful" of her elementary school friends) was able to cheer at the varsity football game Friday night. The kids had so much, and I think all of the parents equally enjoyed stepping back in time to their own high school days. We may not be quite as young as we used to be, but it was fun to reminisce all the same.
